Move-Out
Thinking About Leaving CSU Early?
If you are considering leaving Chicago State University before the end of the academic
year, we strongly encourage you to speak with a Resident Assistant (RA) or a Housing
& Residence Life professional staff member before making your final decision.
Students sometimes consider leaving due to academic, financial, personal, or other
challenges. Our goal is to support your success and help you remain enrolled at CSU
whenever possible. Housing & Residence Life can help connect you with campus resources,
support services, and university offices that may be able to assist you. You can reach
out to housing@csu.edu to schedule an appointment to speak with someone to help you decide what decision
is best for you.

Fees, Charges & Refund Information
Housing Cancellation & Contract Obligations
Students who wish to cancel their housing assignment must submit the appropriate cancellation
documentation to Housing & Residence Life before the first day of classes or move-in day, whichever occurs first, in order to receive a full refund of eligible room and board charges.
Students who do not arrive by the Wednesday of the semester opening and have not submitted a
written cancellation will remain bound to the terms and conditions of their Housing
Contract. Room assignments cannot be held or guaranteed for students who arrive late
or fail to make prior arrangements with the Housing Office before the Residence Hall
opens.
Important:
- Canceling admission to the University does not automatically cancel a housing contract.
- Students are responsible for submitting all required housing cancellation documentation.
- A $100 non-refundable housing application fee is required for all housing applicants. This fee is non-refundable regardless of
cancellation, withdrawal, or housing assignment status.
- Please review the Room and Board Contractual Agreement and applicable cancellation
forms for complete details.

- Refund eligibility and dates may vary between new housing students and returning residents.
- Students should consult the applicable cancellation form for semester-specific deadlines.
Financial Responsibilities
Students are responsible for all housing and university charges associated with their
account. Failure to satisfy financial obligations may result in:
- Loss of eligibility to receive academic credit for enrolled courses.
- Placement of the account with an outside collection agency.
- Reporting of delinquent balances to credit reporting agencies.
- Assignment of the account to the State of Illinois Offset System.
- Assessment of collection costs, legal fees, and associated expenses incurred in recovering
