I, April T. Rhodes M.Ed., was born and raised on the vibrant south side of Chicago, a city that has shaped my values and passion for education. As a proud mother of two wonderful children, my journey in education has been both personal and professional, deeply intertwined with my commitment to nurturing young minds.
With over 20 years of experience in various capacities within the field of education, I have dedicated my career to fostering learning environments that support the growth and development of children. My journey began with Chicago Public Schools and has expanded to include numerous nonprofit organizations, where I have held roles that span from a Head Start parent to a childcare worker, assistant teacher, head teacher, infant-toddler specialist, and director of early childhood programs.
Currently, I serve as an adjunct professor at Chicago State University, where I share my passion and knowledge with future educators. In addition, I am proud to hold the position of Associate Director at Dr. Kanis Child Development Center, where I work collaboratively with colleagues to emphasize the importance of high-quality childcare.
Throughout my career, I have been driven by the belief that every child deserves access to a nurturing and enriching educational experience. I am honored to contribute to the field of education and to play a role in shaping the lives of children and their families in our community.
