Our History

The Kanis Child Development Center was founded in 2022 with a goal of supporting student parents at Chicago State University. Since 2023, our center has been open to students, faculty, staff and community, offering comprehensive developmental programs that foster cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth.

The Kanis Child Development Center was made possible by a generous donation given in Dr. David Kanis' name.

Dr. Kanis is a philanthropist and former professor at Chicago State University.
