Additional Academic Information

Core Biology Courses

Eight core biology courses are required by all students in all of the three biological sciences major concentration options. Four of the eight courses are offered at the 1000 and 2000 level. Three courses are at 3000 levels. One of the eight core courses is the capstone course, at the 4000 level.

Biology Elective Courses:

Four elective courses are selected from a list of approved biology electives at the 3000 or 4000 level. Two of the four courses must be at the 4000 level. Also, two of the four courses must have a lab component. In addition, one or two biology electives are taken at the 2000 level from a list of required lower division courses.

The Biology Major: Secondary Education (BIOT):

The capstone course for BIOT major is Student Teaching (BIOL 4750). The Methods of teaching course, BIOL 4630, counts as one of the four required biology electives at the 3000/4000 level.
