Congratulations, future graduates! You've completed the challenging journey to earn your degree, and now it's time to celebrate.

Commencement is an important event. As you embark on your next chapter, we want to ensure your graduation ceremony is a seamless and memorable occasion. Here, you'll find everything you need to prepare for your special day—from applying for graduation to walking across the stage.

Apply to Graduate

The most important step to prepare for Commencement is applying for graduation. Students who are eligible to graduate must submit their application to graduate for the Spring 2026 degree conferral cycle. For Chicago State University to determine if you are eligible to receive your degree, you must apply for your degree. 

If you are not in your final semester/term at Chicago State University, please check with your academic advisor before completing the application to graduate

Once your application for graduation has been submitted and approved, you must register separately for the commencement ceremony.

Registering for commencement confirms your intent to participate and assists Chicago State University with planning and logistics.
