Background Statement

Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction from University of Illinois at Chicago, Chicago, IL.

My research interests include science education, technology education, health & wellness advocacy in schools, assessment, and accreditation systems. My dissertation “Life-threatening Allergies in Schools” led to a state law requiring epi-pens in schools and additional training for school nurses and emergency health advocates in schools. This work led to a recognition award in 2024 from the United Voices for Children non-profit advocacy organization in partnership with the State of Illinois Office of the Governor.
