LaConyer Davis began her career at CSU August 19, 2021 in the Psychology Dept. Dr. Davis teaches Psychology and Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Counseling courses. Her research interests are in the areas of Racial and Ethnic Identities and Historical Trauma.
Dr. Davis is a native Chicagoan, growing up on Chicago's Westside and educated in Chicago Public Schools. She received a BA from UIC in 2000 in African American Studies focused in Social Psychology and a Masters Degree in Community Counseling from Argosy University in 2012. Dr. Davis completed her Doctoral internship at the Illinois Criminal Justice Authority Act where she worked on research of municipal workers and their knowledge of the elderly community.
In addition to teaching classes at CSU, Dr. Davis also serves as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor. Dr. Davis has worked as the Behavioral Health Training Coordinator and Crisis Therapist at Stroger Hospital (Cook County).
