Master of Arts in English

The M.A. in English at Chicago State University is designed for students who wish to deepen their expertise in literature, writing, criticism, and language, while preparing for careers in teaching, publishing, law, business, or further studies. The program builds on a firm foundation of core studies in literature and criticism and develops analytical abilities, investigation techniques, and effective presentation of ideas. A concentration in Black Literature is also offered, reflecting the university’s commitment to literary diversity and scholarship.

Graduates may:
