The City of Chicago Announces Second Protect Chicago Music Series Concert Featuring SaveMoney and 1,200 Single-day Lollapalooza Passes for Vaccinated Chicagoans

Concerts offer incentive and benefit for residents who receive a COVID-19 vaccine to protect their families, communities, and themselves

CHICAGO – The City of Chicago today announced two opportunities for music lovers to experience some of the hottest acts coming to the city this summer – all while ensuring they are protecting themselves and those around them by getting vaccinated against COVID-19. The Protect Chicago Music Series returns with a concert on July 1st featuring SaveMoney. Additionally, the City will give away 1,200 single-day Lollapalooza passes at designated “Lolla Day” events for those who get or are already vaccinated.

“As Chicago prepares to reopen, we have to remember that the COVID-19 pandemic is not over, and getting vaccinated is the best way for the city to continue to move forward,” said CDPH Commissioner Allison Arwady, M.D. “We’re excited about these two opportunities to help those who may be on the fence about getting vaccinated to protect themselves, their family, and their community.”

Protect Chicago Music Series with SaveMoney

The second show in the Protect Chicago Music Series will be held at Chicago State University on July 1 from 4:00-8:00pm featuring SaveMoney – the full lineup of artists will be announced next week.

"While our City has seen a significant reduction in infection and hospitalization rates, there remains a gap in vaccination in our minority communities. We cannot all fully celebrate summer and the greatness of Chicago until we are all vaccinated," said Zaldwaynaka "Z" Scott, Esq., president of Chicago State University. "Chicago State University is committed to supporting our campus and community's health by hosting the City's vaccination site and providing educational programming. We are thrilled to host this concert and encourage our communities to stay the course, follow safety protocols, and get fully vaccinated."

Attendees must have received the final dose of a two-dose vaccine or a single-dose vaccine by June 17 to be eligible to attend. The event will be ticketed, and attendees must bring their CDC vaccination card as proof of vaccination and matching photo ID.

Tickets to the event will be available by booking select appointments between June 14 and 17 at Chicago State University. Appointments are required and are available here. Please note, only CONFIRMED appointments will be accepted on-site – pending appointments are not sufficient. Registrants must make sure that their appointment has moved from pending to confirmed. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be administered. Appointments are only available for Chicagoans age 18 and up. Tickets will also be distributed at select mobile events throughout the city over the weekend.

Individuals who are already fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are also eligible. A link to tickets for the July 1 event will be released Friday, June 18 on CDPH’s social media channels and on its website.

Protect Chicago Music Series events are exclusively for fully COVID-19 vaccinated Chicagoans. A partnership between the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), the Protect Chicago Music Series will include a variety of musical events taking place across Chicago as an incentive and benefit for Chicagoans who receive a COVID-19 vaccine to protect their families, communities, and themselves.
