Department of Occupational Therapy receives $3 million Scholarship Grant

The Department of Occupational Therapy at Chicago State University is excited to announce that it has received a 5-year, $3 million grant that awards Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students (SDS) funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) under the U.S. Department of Human Services.

This grant, known as the Diversifying the Occupational Therapy Workforce (DOTW) initiative will provide financial assistance for tuition, fees, books, and living expenses to economically disadvantaged students completing their Master’s degree in occupational therapy at Chicago State. This initiative aims to increase the diversity and inclusivity of the profession of occupational therapy as well as train a diverse workforce to work in medically underserved communities. The grant will fund up to 30 students per year.

Eligibility

Eligibility for the grant is determined based on income level. Applicants must be enrolled full time (9 credit hour minimum/semester) in the graduate Master’s of Occupational Therapy Program and will be required to complete an application process. Awards will cover tuition, fees, books and reasonable living expenses.
