Chicago State’s College of Education Honors Alumni and Community Partners

Chicago State’s College of Education Honors Alumni and Community Partners Chicago State University held its 5th Annual Scholarship and Awards Gala on May 3, 2019 at the Oaklawn Hilton Hotel.  The Ceremony commemorated the accomplishments of alumni, community partners and outstanding educators who have had a positive impact on students and the community they serve.  The Mistress of ceremony was Felicia Lawrence, co host of WCIU’s The Jam.

There were eight awards given to alumni and community partners as a form of appreciation for all of their hard work and service to the campus and community.  Awardees included:

  • Mr. Thomas Dubelbeis, Alumni Service Award
  • Mr. Myron Hester , Community Partner Award
  • Dr. Blondean Y. Davis, Education Leadership Award
  • President Zaldwaynaka Z Scott, Visionary Award
  • Mr Alprentice “Al” Watson, Corporate Citizenship Award
  • Dr. Athanase Gahungu, Educator of the Year Award
  • Dr. John Agada and Dr. Debra J. Nelson, professors in the College of Education both received awards for their dedication to service as they prepare for retirement at CSU.
