Dr.Leslie Roundtree, Provost of Chicago State University attended the United Nations
Summit along with Derrick Collins, Dean, CSU College of Business and Dr. Aida Abraha,
Associate Dean, CSU College of Arts and Sciences. The summit was held at the United
Nations Headquarters in New York during their 74th General Assembly, on September
23, 2019.
The Summit theme, Africa and the Global African Diaspora: International Summit of Colleges, Universities, and Ministers of Education, brought together several Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) and Predominately Black Institutions to discuss an international partnership between HBCUs and higher education institutions abroad in Africa. The partnership is the beginning of a new initiative to advance the quality of education for all persons of African descent across the globe. The summit was spearhead by Dr. Farid Mohammad, CEO of the International Human Rights Association of American Minorities (IHRAAM) who entered into an agreement with the United Nations.
Chicago State University is committed to the advancement and quality of education for all people of color and will work with IHRAAM and the United Nations to promote the advancement of Africans and African Americans in STEM disciplines.
