New CSU Foundation Unveiled
Seeking to strengthen its outside fundraising efforts, Chicago State University recently
announced the unveiling of its new Foundation: The University Foundation at Chicago
State (TUFCS).
Due to dwindling dollars from both state and federal governments, state universities around the country are forced to think outside the box. At CSU, students are receiving less and less funds, forcing them to withdraw from school. The University Foundation at Chicago State is developing strategic initiatives to prevent losing our most valuable assets, our students.
“This is an exciting time at CSU as we launch our new Foundation, which will serve as a partner in fundraising for our university,” Chicago State University President Wayne D. Watson said. “TUFCS recently received its tax exempt status and has a new Board of Directors. The goals of the new Foundation are to increase the university’s endowment, bring in more outside dollars for student scholarships and raise funds for major infrastructure improvements. In addition, TUFCS will work closely with the newly reorganized Office of Alumni Affairs and Annual Giving, headed by Executive Director Louis Wright. The office will work to advance alumni relations and strategically focus on the early cultivation and development process with donors.”
The TUFCS Board of Directors elected its officers in late June. Officers elected were Maria L. Foxhall, chairman of the board, LaQuietta J. Hardy-Campbell, vice chairman of the board, Fannie McCullough’94,’99, secretary and Veranda Dickens, treasurer. TUFCS is also pleased to announce the current composition of the new Board of Directors:
