CSU, John Marshall Announce Partnership
Chicago State University, the oldest public university in Illinois, proudly announced
a new partnership with The John Marshall Law School that will offer CSU pre-law students
a “3+3” Accelerated Law School Admissions program.
“One of our many points of pride in the CSU family is the extended impact our graduates have in multiple disciplines and this new partnership will help continue that tradition by allowing our students in pre-law to move into a fully accredited law school program after their junior year,” CSU Provost Dr. Angela Henderson said. “By building this pipeline, our university will be able to better serve our students who dream to one day practice law, and John Marshall will be on the receiving end of highly qualified students who have an embedded sense of social justice. On behalf of all CSU students, faculty and staff we want to commend John Marshall Law School for their commitment to promoting diversity in the legal field and for working with CSU for the benefit of both of our institutions.”
The John Marshall Law School and Chicago State University have entered into a Memorandum
of Understanding which will permit a number of well-qualified Chicago State University
students to enter The John Marshall Law School of Chicago after completing their junior
year of undergraduate study. The students from CSU that participate in this Accelerated
Law School Admission program receive a Bachelor’s degree from Chicago State University
following successful completion of the first year of law school and a Juris Doctorate
degree from The John Marshall Law School after successful completion of the requirements
of the law school curriculum. Accelerated admission to The John Marshall Law School
permits completion of the requirement for both degrees in a shorter period of time
than is usual, thus decreasing the overall cost to the student.
