CSU Welcomes Education Partners from India
Chicago State University recently welcomed Dr. Tulasi Ram Das, Vice Chancellor of
JNTU-Kakinada in India to campus to discuss plans for an ongoing partnership between
the two Universities that will include exchanges of faculty and students and joint
programs to create a global education experience.
After the visit, CSU President Dr. Wayne D. Watson issued the following statement:
"Over the past two decades, US – India relations have evolved rapidly and we now find
ourselves as global partners in many areas, specifically in science, engineering,
technology and math. As educators, we have a responsibility to meet the growing needs
of these evolving relations. That is why meetings like these are so important. We
both have challenges in higher education that a strong partnership can help alleviate.
In India, there remains a pressing need to improve higher education capacity. Here
in the United States, we must have students who are more globally aware if they are
to compete. Together we can begin to outline strategies that will address these issues
and make both our institutions stronger in the process."
