About Us
The Global Engagement Office (GEO) at Chicago State University (CSU) offers comprehensive
support to international students, scholars, faculty, and staff. We also assist American
students seeking study, work, or travel opportunities abroad. For specific inquiries,

International Students and Scholar Services
- Immigration Compliance: Advises on U.S. immigration laws and regulations related to F visa categories.
- Immigration Benefits: Recommends and approves immigration benefits.
- SEVIS Management: Verifies, tracks, and submits visa status notifications through the Student and
Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) as required by the U.S. Department of
Homeland Security.
- Cultural and Academic Adjustment: Offers guidance on adjusting to U.S. society, American culture, academic concerns,
and community resources.
- Documentation Processing: Handles I-20s, travel signatures, and letters needed for travel, employment, maintaining
status, social security numbers, and other immigration-related matters.
- Workshops and Orientations: Conducts sessions for international students, scholars, and CSU departments.
Global Engagement and Education Abroad
- Orientation Programs: Organizes orientation for new international students and their families.
- Cultural and Social Events: Develops events to promote engagement and inclusion between U.S. and international
students.
- Health and Wellness Programs: Collaborates on programs that support international student health and wellness.
- Education Abroad Advising: Advises students interested in studying abroad.
- Funding and Scholarships: Facilitates the selection of recipients for education abroad funding, including
the Vincent and Frances Chierico Fund and administers the GEO International Student
Scholarship Fund.
- Fulbright Programs: Administers Fulbright programs.

- International Cougar Event Series: Prepares and facilitates this event series.
- International Career Pathways: Coordinates with Career Services.
- Federal Program Pathways: Promotes recruitment activities for the Peace Corps and other federal programs.
- Peace Corps Prep Program: Manages this program.
- Intercultural Workshops: Develops and conducts workshops on intercultural communication, diversity, inclusion,
and international student community topics.
Leadership and Staff Message
Welcome to the Global Engagement Office at Chicago State University! As part of the
Academic Affairs division, GEO serves the international population, facilitates intercultural
and international education, and fosters a global campus community. Our role in internationalization
efforts includes advising on U.S. immigration regulations and compliance. We support
international students, faculty, staff, and their families through an array of programming
designed to assist with U.S. cultural adjustment and encourage campus involvement.
Additionally, GEO promotes collaborative opportunities for U.S. and international
students, assists in finding and funding education abroad opportunities, and contributes
to CSU's vision and mission.
