Graduation Requirements

Degree Requirements (36 semester hours):

Coursework: Completion of at least 36 credit hours of graduate level course work with grades averaging B (3.0) or above.

Thesis: Completion of the MFA thesis (minimum 30 poems or 5 short stories [at least 100 pages] or 150 pages of a novel or creative non-fiction).

Comprehensive Exam: Completion of a comprehensive exam in literature and craft.

Oral Presentation: A public reading and defense of the thesis.  

Core/Required Courses include (but are not limited to):

• Writing Workshops/Forms (15 hrs)
• Publishing (6 hrs)
• Literature (9hrs)
• Thesis (6 hrs)
