CSU Reviewing Gov. Pritzker’s COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate

On August 26, Gov. Pritzker announced a mandate requiring all Illinois higher education employees and college students to be fully vaccinated. Those individuals unable to be fully vaccinated will be required to participate in regular on-campus COVID-19 testing.

Chicago State University is currently reviewing the mandate and our existing COVID-19 policies, along with guidance we expect to receive from the Illinois Board of Higher Education. We will provide an update to the campus community next week.

Employess

• At this point, if you are a CSU faculty and staff member, a COVID-19 vaccination requirement is currently in place with a due date of August 23, 2021. Faculty Staff Vaccination Policy. Please provide your vaccination verification immediately to the HR department (email HR@csu.edu for instructions) to meet the state mandate for all higher education employees and to be in compliance with CSU policy.

Students

• If you are a student and you are vaccinated, please send proof of your vaccination status immediately to wellness@csu.edu to meet the state mandate for all higher

There is currently wide vaccine eligibility and availability: all individuals ages 12 and up are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. The University continues to urge all students, faculty and staff to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, and will be offering free, on-campus clinics at a later date. In the meantime, the COVID-19 vaccine is widely available nationally, including through your healthcare provider, neighborhood pharmacy, and more. Those individuals who are not fully vaccinated, and are working or attending classes on campus, are required at this time to participate in regular COVID-19 testing until they come into compliance with the state mandate. COVID-19 testing is held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9-11am, Thursdays from 12-3pm, and Fridays from 9am-12pm in the CSU Library Cafe.
