Dr. Salam Receives Outstanding Student Branch Advisor Award

Dr. Mohammad Abdus Salam, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Computing, Information and Mathematical Sciences, and Technology (CIMST) at Chicago State University, has been honored with the Outstanding Student Branch Advisor Award from the IEEE Chicago Section.

The award was presented on March 24, 2026, during the IEEE Chicago Section 2025 Awards Banquet & Dinner, held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Venuti's Italian Restaurant & Banquet Hall.

The Outstanding Student Branch Advisor Award recognizes exceptional advisors who have demonstrated outstanding dedication, leadership, and service in supporting a Chicago Section Student Branch, performing their responsibilities beyond normal expectations. Selection criteria emphasize impactful mentorship, student engagement, and sustained contributions to the success and growth of the student branch.

Dr. Salam has played a pivotal role in mentoring students, strengthening the IEEE student community at CSU, and creating opportunities for professional development, research engagement, and industry interaction. Under his guidance, students have actively participated in technical activities, conferences, and collaborative initiatives that enhance both their academic and career trajectories.
