CSU is now Test-Optional through Fall 2022

For the Fall 2021 to Fall 2022 terms, the Office of Admissions will no longer require standardized test scores for the purposes of an admissions decision.

Great news that our students will not have to be concerned; this is not an issue with our application process! Our application process is test optional for all applicants (Domestic, Transfer and International Applicants). You are a hardworking student and these current encounters should not have a bearing on your future goals! We look forward to reviewing your application (with or without test scores) for the following terms.

Although for now until Fall 2022 we are test optional, we are still joyful to accept and consider SAT or ACT scores from students who have previously taken these exams and would like to share their scores as part of their application.

What does test-optional that look like? What is the criteria for test-optional? Below is an outline of the criteria for applicants with no test scores and applicants who elect to submit test scores:

Applicants with No Test Sore

Test Optional Changes:

  • Direct Admission: Applicants who apply with a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher with no test score are offered admission to Chicago State University upon submission of all other required documents.
  • Conditional Admission: Applicants with all required documents and a cumulative GPA between a 2.0 and a 2.499 will be offered an opportunity to interview with the Success U program to seek Conditional Admission to CSU. Conditional admission may be waived by providing a sufficient ACT or SAT score.
  • International: Applicants must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher to waive the standardized test score requirement.
  • GED Holders: Applicants with a GED Certificate must present GED Certificate with a passing score. The submission of standardized test scores is not required
  • Homeschooled Students: Are no longer required to meet a minimum requirement of an ACT composite of 18 or SAT composite of 960 for direct admission.
  • Honors: Applicants seeking admission to the Honors program must meet at least two of the following eligibility criterion for entering first-year students (freshmen):
    1. have a 3.5 GPA of 3.5 or higher
    2. graduate in the top 10% of their class
    3. submit standardized test scores of 23 ACT or 1130 SAT
    4. Scholarship: The use of standardized test scores will not be used for scholarship
