Honors College

Steve Rowe

Greetings from the Chicago State University Honors College! I am the new Dean of the Honors College, and I have been a professor in the history department and working at Chicago State since 2007. I am currently working on research on Asian and African migrant laborers during World War I. I am excited to be leading the Honors College and working with a great group of students at Chicago State!

Any undergraduate students who are considering Chicago State should learn about the Honors College. We are a small community of talented and highly motivated students, faculty, and staff. The Honors College has an academic program that supplements students’ traditional undergraduate degree programs, and we have students from all majors and all colleges at Chicago State in the Honors College. Check out the following webinar I recently recorded for prospective students

Here are a few quick facts about the Honors College:

  • Students who are accepted and enroll in the Honors College get scholarships that cover full tuition and fees for up to four years.
  • Honors College students take specific Honors courses taught by a select group of faculty and with only other Honors College students in those courses.
  • Honors College students get additional opportunities for internships, study abroad, and service activities.
  • The Honors College accepts applications from new first-time students (freshmen), transfer students, and current CSU students.

To apply to the Honors College, please go to our website and learn about our application process. If you are a first-time student (freshman) with a 3.5 or higher high school GPA, or a transfer student or current CSU student with a 3.35 or higher college GPA, you are eligible to apply. I look forward to hearing from many of you and talking with you about the Honors College.
