Freshman Advising

Welcome to Chicago State University (CSU)! Advising is an important part of a student's academic success. The First Year Experience( FYE) office is committed to students' personal, social, and academic growth. Freshman advising is the initial building block of establishing a learning community among the first-year students.

The First Year Experience handles all advising needs of incoming CSU freshmen. Advisors work with students in providing them with information not only about their major but also about campus resources. Freshman advisors are knowledgeable of required freshman block courses for various majors and programs offered at Chicago State University. Freshman advisors offer first- year students guidance and support during their first year. Advisors help with both academic and other issues that affect a student's academic performance. We work closely with students through advisement in developing a mutually agreed upon plan which will aid in the identification of their educational, career, and life goals. Freshman advising is a wonderful experience that will pave the way to a successful future in higher education.
