Klavitter’s Record Setting Season Claims WAC Libero of the Year Award

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – After setting three different records this season, Chicago State University junior volleyball student-athlete Megan Klavitter claimed the Western Athletic Conference’s Libero of the Year Award this evening as the league announced its all-conference teams and postseason awards.

Klavitter also holds the honor of being the first CSU volleyball player to win a postseason award in the program’s Division I history.

During the regular season, Klavitter tallied 678 digs to take the WAC’s single-season record and broke her CSU single-season record as well as becoming the school’s D-I career digs leader with 1,516 over three seasons. She led the league in total digs and digs per set with an average of 5.65 in addition to ranking eighth among the NCAA D-I leaders.

Klavitter, who was a two-time WAC Defensive Player of the Week recipient this fall, recorded double-digit digs in all 33 matches for the Cougars which includes 17 contests with 20 or more digs and five matches with 30-plus digs.

She posted a career-best 38 digs versus Brown at the Stetson Invite on Sept. 14 and recorded 32 digs against Colgate on Aug. 24 at the Cal Molten Classic as two of her top matches of the season.
