CSU Host the Spring 2018 Provost Research Colloquium

However, this year is even more delightful for Chicago State University as faculty, staff and administrators were honored for their dedication to the University’s mission in research, teaching and service.

On Friday, April 27, 2018 the Provost’s Research Colloquium was held along with the Academic & Student Affairs Recognition Ceremony. The afternoon began with the Provost’s Research Colloquium where faculty and students shared their posters and digital presentations with the campus community. Faculty, students and staff received a warm welcome from Dr. Angela Henderson, Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs. Long-time education professor Dr. Byung-In Seo was the keynote speaker and shared highlights of the University’s 150 year history.  

The day long Academic Affairs events were accompanied by an intermittent reception that preceded the Recognition Ceremony and was opened with a toast by Dr. Rachel W. Lindsey, Interim President. “Hail CSU where all our dreams come true. Meeting the challenge, making old things new. Onward and upward…Telling our story [for the next 150 years. We lift up our glasses] to CSU, “said Dr. Lindsey. 

The Academic & Student Affairs Awards Ceremony featured twenty-two Faculty Excellence Awards, recognition of seven Faculty Resource Network Scholars- in-Residence and three Fulbright scholars. There were 280 faculty, staff and administrators pinned for their dedication to the mission of the University.  Retirement honors were also recognized. Many thanks to all who contributed to making this celebration a success including Dr. Nancy Grim, Interim Director of the Center for Teaching & Research Excellence who served as the Mistress of Ceremonies and event planner and Dr. Richard Darga, Dean of Library and Instructional Services (LIS); as well as the entire LIS faculty, staff and students; Interim Dean of Pharmacy, Dr. Carmita Colman for donating t-shirts and the Department of Music for providing live music for the reception.
