CSU Celebrates 2013 Fall Convocation

Chicago State University officially kicked off the 2013 academic year with the Fall Convocation Celebration on Tuesday, September 3. The event took place at the Jones Convocation Center and included speeches from several members of the CSU family.

Dr. Garrard McClendon served as moderator for the affair and kept the crowd engaged throughout. After a brief video highlighting recent achievements, CSU Senior Christopher Muldrow introduced President Dr. Wayne D. Watson.

Dr. Watson walked the crowd of CSU faculty, staff and students through the major accomplishments for the University over the past year, most notably the 10-year accreditation that CSU received from the Higher Learning Commission. He also outlined the future of CSU including plans to strengthen enrollment and engaging in more online-based curriculum.

Additional speakers included HLC Steering Committee Co-Chair Dr. Paul Musial who spoke about steps CSU must take post-accreditation. Dr. Elizabeth Osika outlined the Planning, Measurement and Effectiveness (PME) initiatives, Dr. Bernard Rowan discussed Shared Governance and Dr. Leslie Roundtree brought it all together with a speech on what each of us must to do help improve the CSU "House".
