What is ROTC?
Army ROTC is the premier officer-training program within the U.S. military, boasting
a legacy of commissioning over half a million second lieutenants since its foundation.
Merging academic excellence with military discipline, ROTC offers students the unique
opportunity to pursue their chosen degree while also undertaking rigorous Military
Science courses. The program is designed to be inclusive, welcoming both individuals
new to military concepts and those with prior service experience. Upon successful
completion of both their academic and ROTC commitments, Cadets earn the esteemed title
of second lieutenant, ready to serve with dedication in the active Army, Army Reserve,
or Army National Guard.
With a presence in over 273 prestigious institutions across all 50 states, the District
of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, Army ROTC has a thriving community of over 35,000 students.
Impressively, it is responsible for commissioning an overwhelming 60% of the second
lieutenants who commit to serving in the active Army, the Army National Guard, and
the U.S. Army Reserve.
