Dr. Henderson and Dr. Hendricks receive Crescent Moon AwardsThe Crescent Moon Awards Celebration has been an esteemed community event for more than 50 years. Once a year the men of Upsilon Sigma chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. take time to honor numerous African-American women who are making a difference in their communities. This year, two very important women from Chicago State University were honored.

On November 21, 2015 Dr. Angela Henderson, Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dr. Denisha Hendricks, Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics both received the Crescent Moon Award from the Upsilon Sigma chapter. This distinguished event was held at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza in Chicago Ill.

Dr. Angela Henderson received the award for Academic Leadership. She has been a Vice Chancellor/ Provost for 5 years serving the City Colleges of Chicago for three years and then Chicago State University over 2 years. She holds a Ph.D. in Nursing in addition to a Master of Science in Nursing, a Master of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Loyola University. Dr. Henderson is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Like Dr. Henderson, Dr. Denisha Hendricks has also had an impressive career in education, focusing on athletics. This year, she received the award for Athletics and Leadership. She earned her B.S. degree in Physical Education/ Athletic Training from the University of South Carolina and earned her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Higher Education Administration from Auburn University. As Athletics Director for CSU, she is responsible for 15 Division I intercollegiate athletic programs and University campus recreation. She is also a Diamond Life Member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
