CSU Student Athletes Have Positive Impact in Local Communities

Chicago State University student-athletes and staff members were out in the community on Friday (May 31). The Cougars went to Daniel S. Wentworth Elementary School to speak to students as part of the 100 Positive Black Men program.

Chicago State men's basketball players Arthur Gage and Aaron Williams along with men's basketball assistant coach Sean Pryor spoke to the students about the importance of academics in reaching their goals. The trio talked about their experience at Chicago State and how playing basketball is only one aspect to being a successful student-athlete. They even signed a few autographs along the way. Chicago State mascot Southside made an appearance. Athletic staff members Erwin Prentiss Hill, Hugh Willis and Deonte Price also spoke and answered questions from the students.

"The kids asked great questions and responded to the message," Pryor said. "It was a great opportunity for everyone involved and we were all thankful for the opportunity."
