CSU Hosts 2013 Mass Black Male Graduation and Transition to Manhood Ceremony

Chicago State University and The Black Star Project welcomed  recent high school graduates to the CSU campus on June 29 to participate in the 2013 Mass Black Male Graduation and Transition to Manhood ceremony.

The event is to honor these teens, who are positioned to enter into life as positive young black men. They will then go on to help build communities, cities, and the country as well as serve as positive role models for future generations to come.

The event featured speeches by Chicago native Lupe Fiasco, CSU President Dr. Wayne D. Watson and others.

“When I first heard about the Mass Black Male Graduation and Transition to Manhood Ceremony I knew Chicago State University had a role to play and that it was only natural for CSU to host this wonderful event,” Dr. Wayne D. Watson, President of Chicago State University said. “The reason I say that is because both Chicago State University and The Black Star Project are engaged in a mission to shape young minds and prepare them for future success. I’m very encouraged that the Mass Black Male Graduation is being noticed, not only throughout Chicago but throughout the nation.”
