Student Health Insurance
The basic student health plan for accident and sickness is mandatory for undergraduate and graduate students who enroll for 12 credit hours or more. The fee applies to all on- campus credit hours and students with a combination of off-campus and on-campus credit hours. Students are automatically charged a fee for student health insurance on their tuition account through the Bursar’s Office each time their enrolled credit hours become 12 or more. Cost: $460.00. For information call 773 / 995-4533. NOTE: The current insurance plan is currently being negotiated, and costs may change.
Coverage Period
Students enrolled in the insurance plan for the Fall Semester will receive coverage until the beginning of the Spring Semester. Those students enrolled in the insurance plan for the Spring Semester will receive coverage until the beginning of the following Fall Semester. Students are provided with coverage on campus as well as off campus.
Other Students Eligible for Participation in the Plan
Part-time students will be allowed to enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan on a voluntary enrollment basis, but at a slightly higher rate. In addition, insurance coverage for the Summer Session is offered to students on an optional basis.
Application for Cancellation and Cancellation Requirements
Students who enroll for 12 or more credit hours and who have equal or better health insurance coverage may apply for cancellation from the mandatory fee providing the following steps are taken:
The cancellation forms are available during the registration period or may be obtained from the Office of Student Health Insurance. Students receiving full monetary award from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission are not eligible to cancel. Cancellation deadlines are published in the Class Schedule Bulletin each semester.
Installment Payment Plan
Students may pay for their tuition and mandatory fees on an installment payment plan. A nonrefundable service fee will be charged to students choosing the installment payment plan, according to the month that the plan begins for the term.
The first payment is due at the time of registration. The second payment is due approximately one month later. The third or final payment is due approximately one month after the second payment. See the Class Schedule Bulletin or check with the Office of the Bursar each semester for the specific dates of installment payments. A delinquent fee of $25.00 will be charged to students who have not completed full payment of their tuition and fees by the due date of the final payment, and a financial hold will be placed on the student’s records preventing registration for the subsequent semester.
Online Payments
The ability to pay online is coming soon. Call the Bursar's Office at 773/995-2470 for more information.
