Social Workers Organization Responds to the
Challenges of Serving New Immigrants

CHICAGO (NOVEMBER 14, 2008)— Social work professionals and professors will explore solutions to the challenges faced by those who serve new immigrants, especially Latino immigrants, during a panel discussion at Chicago State University Academic Library on Tuesday, November 18 at 6 o’clock p.m. The event, “Immigration and Families: Social Workers’ Response in Chicago Communities,” is sponsored by The Latino Social Workers Organization and the CSU Social Work Program.


Panelists include John A. Adewoye, MSW, University of Chicago Hospital; Adriana Gonzalez, LCSW, CADC, Latino Social Workers Behavioral Health and Consulting Services, Inc.; Ida Roldan, LCSW; Leticia Villarreal Sosa, LCSW, adjunct faculty, Chicago State University; and John Ziegler, project director of Neighborhood and Community Partnerships.


The panelists will share their insights on working with immigrant families and individuals and the policies that impact them. The moderators are Adrian L. Delgado, LCSW, CEAP, CADC, Latino Social Workers Organization and CSU social work faculty members Thomas Kenemore and Troy Harden.


The Chicago State University social work program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and has three specializations: direct practice with families, planning and administration of services to families and children, and school social work.
