CSU Interim President to Outline Plans for Change
CHICAGO, SEPTEMBER 9, 2008 — Chicago State University Interim President Dr. Frank Pogue will outline his goals and objectives for the 2008-2009 school year on Tuesday, September 16 at 10:15 a.m. in the President's Conference Room, Cook Administration Building (Room 313).
Dr. Pogue plans to build on the strengths of the University, learn from its past and move the institution forward by:
1. Continuing to pursue academic and personal excellence;
2. Improving the financial aid and operational management and enhance other University operations;
3. Restructuring the University to ensure that we enhance the quality of administrative leadership;
4. Enhancing and increasing undergraduate and graduate enrollment and improve persistence and graduation rates;
5. Aggressively instituting marketing and public relations strategies that will enhance the image of the University;
6. Preparing the University to attract external, non-tax financial contributions;
7. Enhancing employment opportunities for our graduates and establish closer ties with alumni;
8. Creating additional ways to recognize and acknowledge the contributions of University constituents for the excellence they achieve;
9. Increasing graduate enrollment, support for the graduate Division and identify future graduate program opportunities; and finally
10. Aggressively preparing the University community for new presidential leadership.
The news conference precedes the university's Fall Convocation, a ceremony reinstated by Dr. Pogue to formally welcome new faculty, students and staff to the campus. During the noon ceremony at the Emil and Patricia A. Jones Convocation Center, Dr. Pogue will present his goals, priorities and expectations for the school year to the entire CSU community. The president will assess the accomplishment of these goals during the Spring Convocation.
Immediately following the Fall Convocation, Dr. Pogue will lead a procession to the CSU Flagpole Courtyard in the center of campus to commemorate the 141st anniversary of the university's founding. A reception follows in the Cordell Reed Student Union.
