Transfer Guide for
B.S in HEALTH SCIENCES
In February 2003, The Illinois Board of Higher Education gave approval to CSU to change its B.S. in Occupational Therapy program to a Master of Occupational Therapy program. The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education voted to require the master's degree as the entry-level education for occupational therapy practice. Thus, Chicago State University's B.S. in Occupational Therapy has been phased out. Students who transfer to CSU in Summer 2003 and thereafter and who plan to become an occupational therapist will enroll in the B.S. in Health Sciences program. The program is designed as a pre-occupational therapy program and will prepare students for CSU's new Masters of Occupational Therapy Program.
The guide shows the courses which should be selected from general educational offerings to meet program requirements at Chicago State University.
All courses must be passed with a grade of C or better to be accepted as transfer credit in the College of Health Sciences. All transfer students must complete Chicago State University diagnostic examinations for English Composition, Reading, and Math. Study guides for the diagnostic composition exam can be found by clicking here and sample questions for the reading and math exam can be found by clicking here.
Effective fall 2008, students who have completed an AA or AS degree will be considered to have completed university general education requirements. The Occupational Therapy program may, however, require specific courses for formal acceptance to the Pre-Occupational Therapy program.
