Six-Week High School Summer Enrichment Program

June 25 - August 04, 2012


Open to High School Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors and rising Seniors

9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

The six-week Summer Enrichment Program at Chicago State University is designed for high school freshman, sophomores, juniors and rising seniors who have an interest in the health professions. Students selected will be involved in the following:

Academic Enrichment

Enrichment courses will include:
• Chemistry and Physics
• Algebra and Pre-Calculus
• English
• Reading
• Study Skills
• Medical Terminology

9th Grade
English
• Reading /Study Skills
• Biology
• Algebra
• Career Exploration

10th Grade

• ACT Prep
• Geometry
• Chemistry
• English II
• Reading /Study Skills
• Career Exploration

11th Grade

•ACT Prep
•Algebra Trigonometry
•Anatomy Physiology
• English III
• Study Skills
• Career Exploration

12th Grade

• On and Off Site Research Component

College Awareness

College Awareness activities will include:
• Admissions
• Financial Aid
• Academic Counseling

Career Awareness

Career activities will include:
• Health career exploration
• Visits to health care facilities
• Visits to health professions colleges
• Meeting health professionals

Qualifications

• Interest in a health profession
• 2.5 GPA (transcript required)
• Recommendations from either a high school teacher or guidance counselor; and
• Parental consent
