PREHEALTH PROFESSIONS PROGRAMS -
CHICAGO STATE UNIVERSITY
Freshman Year
Complete university placement examination in (English, mathematics, and reading).
Enroll in and complete any provisional or required coursework.
See your faculty advisor and Prehealth professions’ advisor early and often.
Become aware of program course requirements for graduation.
Begin to explore and investigate information on various careers.
Attend seminars, workshops, conferences and meetings coordinated by your academic major, office of Preheath Professions and student government/activities.
Develop disciplined study skills.
Sophomore Year
Continue to take an extensive breadth of coursework.
You should have already begun volunteer service and involvement in campus extracurricular activities.
Continue your exploration of medicine and other careers.
Revise your academic, personal and career goals.
Strictly adhere to faculty/advisor guidance on graduation and premedical/Prehealth profession course requirements.
Attend Prehealth Professions workshops and/or conferences.
Participate in a special summer science program and/or research opportunity.
Read as much as possible about healthcare reform and health issues.
Begin to familiarize yourself with the medical school application process.
Junior Year
July through April: Begin review for MCATs and/or related professional school examination.
February: Apply for the April MCAT. Recommended test date.
April: Meet with your Prehealth advisor to discuss potential schools.
Select those from whom you wish letters of recommendation.
See your faculty advisor and Prehealth professions advisor early and often.
Become aware of program course requirements for graduation.
Begin to explore and investigate information on various careers.

September: Submit AADS application.
