Criterion 1: The institution has clear publicly stated purposes consistent with its mission and appropriate to an institution of higher
Creation and Adoption of the Mission Implementation Fulfillment Consistency
(e.g., what was the process, who provided input, was there consensus among all unit members on the adopted mission?) (e.g., what steps taken to ensure unit’s mission fulfillment, how mission is communicated to unit members, other constituencies, etc.?) (e.g., short and long term activities which lead to fulfilling mission, how are unit’s mission and goals appropriate given clientele and resources, how does unit’s activities contribute to unit’s and university’s mission?) e.g., is unit’s mission consistent with the mission of the next higher unit, if not consistent what steps will be taken to bring unit’s mission in line with the university mission?)

 

Criterion 2: The institution has effectively organized the human, financial and physical resources necessary to accomplish its purposes.

Criterion 3: The institution is accomplishing its educational and other purposes.

(e.g., enrollment of your unit within the last 3 years, explain enrollment and recruitment plans, etc.) (e.g., support for marketing and recruiting, composition of enrollment committee)
 
Criterion 4: The institution can continue its purposes and strengthen its educational effectivenes  
Planning Planning, Assessment, and Budgeting
(e.g., explain how long range plans were developed, faculty and staff involved in the process, how realistic are your unit’s plans, how does planning prepare your unit to face major factors that affect its stability, how does your unit use planning and assessment processes to improve programs) (e.g., describe how your unit used assessment results to improve student learning or to improve your unit’s operation, describe the process which led to the development of your unit’s budget, how assessment influenced budget decisions)
   
Criterion 5:The institution demonstrates integrity in its practices and relationships.
Internal Constituencies External Constituencies Institutional Relationships Communication of Policies to Constituents  
(e.g., identify your internal constituencies, grievance procedures for students, faculty, staff, etc., affirmative action, sexual harassment, and other non-discriminatory practices, procedures to resolve internal disputes, what changes need to occur in your unit?) (e.g., identify external constituencies, unit’s mission regarding these constituencies, does your unit have publications policy and procedures manual, does your unit demonstrate adherence to these published policies if applicable, does your unit utilize online resource sharing mechanism, etc.?) (e.g., does your unit maintain relationships with intercollegiate athletics, external business enterprises, describe the nature of these relationships if applicable, what policies and procedures govern these relationships, what evidence support that your practices are consistent with these policies, etc.) (e.g., how often does your unit communicate these policies to its constituencies, what mechanisms does this communication occur, does the communication reference other offices, what documentation can these references be found, etc.?)
