Illinois Governor, Pat Quinn, Delivers CSU’s 351st Commencement Message
Chicago—(December 12, 2012) Illinois Governor, Pat Quinn will be the keynote speaker at Chicago State University’s commencement ceremony on Thursday, December 13, 2013 at the Emil and Patricia A. Jones Convocation Center at 11AM.
Gov. Quinn has championed and helped pass landmark education reforms in Illinois that are now a model for the nation. “We’re honored to have Governor Quinn speak at our 351st commencement ceremony. He has done so much for the state of Illinois’ educational system, especially higher education institutions. We are honored to have him celebrate with us” said Dr. Wayne D. Watson, President of Chicago State University.
Governor Quinn and Lieutenant Governor Sheila Simon have recently taken an interest in the State of Illinois oldest public university. Lt. Governor Simon visited Chicago State University on November 15th 2012 to experience the campus’ state of the art physics lab as part of a statewide tour to promote affordability in higher education.
Chicago State University has received responses from elected officials to join in congratulating future alumni of CSU. Confirmed community stakeholders include Rep. Corey Foster, Rep. Monique Davis, Sen. Jacqui Collins, Rep. Marcus Evans, Ald. Roderick Sawyer and Ald. Anthony Beale.
