CSU’s Board of Trustees Appoints Rachel Lindsey as new Interim President

Chicago, IL – Chicago State University announced Friday, April 7 the appointment of Rachel Lindsey as Interim President of the university. Cecil B. Lucy, the university’s former interim president will return to his position as Interim Vice President of Finance and Administration. Rachel Lindsey has more than 30 years of experience in higher education teaching and administration. She earned her Ph.D. and M.A from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan. “Everything we’re doing is for our students and their families”, said Chairman Marshall Hatch. “And despite the Illinois budget crisis we will continue to work hard in support of our students and this community.” Chicago State University continues to graduate 1 of every 6 African Americans in the state of Illinois among all of the 12 public universities. The university graduated 262 students in December of 2016 and expects to graduate over 650 students in May of this year alone. Melanie Spann Cooper, Chairman of Midway Broadcasting Corporation, the parent company of WVON will be the commencement speaker.
