Students, Alumni Rally For Funding

Chicago State University students and alumni demonstrated Monday morning outside the Thompson Center in the Loop, calling for an end to the state's budget impasse.

Illinois has gone eight months without a budget and the lack of state funding has created anxiety among students. Demonstrators held signs and marched Monday aiming to pressure lawmakers to take action.

"Illinois needs a budget to fund higher education," said Paris Griffin, CSU student government president. "Without the state budget being passed, higher education in the state of Illinois is in danger."
