13th Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) Conference, Nashville, TN, November 12-16, 2013.

This national conference is designed to encourage students to pursue advanced training in the biomedical sciences.  This year more than two thousand students attended. The conference is sponsored by The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) and managed by the American Society for Microbiology (ASM).  Thirteen RISE students attended and contributed 12 presentations of their research. 2013 LS-AMP Spring Symposium and Conference in STEM, Lisle, Illinois, February 15-16.

The theme for this Midwest regional conference was  "Cultivating Excellence: Re-establishing Preeminence in STEM."  It consisted of workshops and presentations from undergraduates and graduate students from 9  universities, 5 community colleges and 1 government laboratory.  CSU RISE students and research mentors attended the symposium and five research presentations were made by CSU MBRS-RISE students or alumni.  For a listing, please click here.

Illinois Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation, 2012 Spring Symposium & Research Conference in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics, Chicago, Il, February 3-4.

The title for this Midwest regional conference was  "Lighting the Path to Our Future with STEM."  It consisted of workshops and presentations from undergraduates and graduate students from 9  universities, 5 community colleges and 1 government laboratory.

2011 ABRCMS Conference, St. Louis, MO, November 9-12.

This national conference is designed to encourage students to pursue advanced training in the biomedical sciences.   The conference is sponsored by The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) and managed by the American Society for Microbiology (ASM).

Two RISE students and one alumna presented their research at the conference.  Current RISE student Rosa Garcia was awarded a citation and prize for the best presentation in her field of immunology.
