Choosing A Good Password

A good password should have the following characteristics:

  • Passwords must be changed regularly, at least every six weeks.
  • Be at least nine (9) characters long.
  • Not be found in a dictionary.
  • Have at least two alphabetic letters (upper and lower case) and at least one numeric or special character.
  • Does not contain all or part of the user's account name.

Don’ts

  • Don’t write your password on a “post-it” and stick it to your computer where others can see it.
  • Don’t use passwords that are easy to guess: child’s name, birthday, husband’s name, pet’s name.
  • Don’t shared your password with any other person.

If you suspect that someone has seen your password or accessed your account, you should change your password immediately. You will be held liable for all activity engaged in regarding your account.
