Network Infrastructure

Chicago State University is moving to Active Directory and MS Exchange.  These are the steps for the Conversion to Active Directory/Exchange.

  1. Make sure you have a network connection.
  2. Make sure the operating is at Windows XP Professional SP3, Windows Vista Business, or Windows 7.
  3. Note all mapped drives.
  4. Upgrade Cisco Clean Access Client to v4.8.

  5. Install Cisco Clean Access certificate on PC.

  6. Note the local administrator user and password on PC.
  7. Remove Novell Client and ZenWorks.
  8. Outlook
    • Delete or archive all old email and save any attachments on the PC.
    • Export the newer email to a file on the PC.

  9. Join computer to Active Directory domain.

  10. Add Active Directory user to the local Administrator group.

    • Log on to Active Directory for the first time.  This may take several minutes as Cisco Clean Access synchronizes with Active Directory and Windows builds a new profile for the Active Directory user.
      • Your user name is the first twenty letters of your first name, middle initial, and last name as it appears in Banner.
        1. f your name is Abcd Efghi, your user name is abcdefghi.
        2. If your name is Abcd E. Fghij, your user name is abcdefghij.
        3. If your name is Abcdefghijk L. Mnopqrs-Tuvwxyz, your user name is abcdefghijklmnopqrst.
      • You must change your password with your first logon to Active Directory.  Your initial password is the first nine digits of your CSU ID number, 9########.  Your new password must contain the following characteristics.
        1. It must contain eight characters.
        2. It must contain at least one capital letter – ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
        3. It must contain at least one lower case letter – abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
        4. It must contain at least one number – 0123456789
        5. It must contain at least one special character `~!@#$%^&*()-_=+\|[{]};:’”,<.>/?
  11. Copy or move the local Administrator profile, My Documents, Desktop, and Favorites to the Active Directory user profile.
  12. Outlook
    • Configure Exchange profile in Active Directory.

    • Make Exchange your default profile.
    • If you use Call Pilot, add Call Pilot to Exchange profile.

    • Import the email, which was exported to file in step 8, to the Exchange profile.
    • Transfer signature from old profile to Exchange profile
