ACCOUNTING ASSOCIATE
Chicago State University seeks a self-motivated, team player for an accounting associate role to support the Financial Affairs office. The successful candidate must have a minimum of three years demonstrated experience, preferably in a higher education setting. The responsibilities/duties of the Accounting Associate are as follows:
- Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger account analysis.
- Prepares vouchers for submission to the Illinois Comptroller’s office and reconcile state appropriation revenue and expenditures.
- Participate in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and statistical reports.
- Provides assistance to fiscal officers in interpreting accounting reports and statements.
- Assures that accounting reporting are in compliance with university, state, and federal policies and rules.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in
Accountancy or a related field and two years of professional level accounting experience preferably in a higher education setting, OR possession of a current registration as a Certified Public Accountant OR a valid license to practice Public Accounting OR a Master’s degree in Accountancy or a related field.
- Advanced proficiency in using large, integrated computer systems, preferably SCT Banner.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – including Excel, Word, Outlook.
- High level of detail orientation.
- Ability to interact professionally and be a team player with internal and external contacts.
