2015 Honors Convocation Participation Instructions 

You have been selected to be honored for academic achievement at the 2015 Honors Convocation being held on April 16, 2015, 6:00 p.m.

Honor Roll and Honor Society Recognition

If you are being recognized solely for the President’s, Provost’s, or University Honor Roll or are being inducted into the freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, or Graduate and Professional National Honor Society and you plan to participate in the 2015 Honors Convocation please RSVP by April 10, 2015.  http://www.csu.edu/honorsconvocation/RSVP.htm

Please arrive at the Jones Convocation Center at 5:30 pm on April 16, 2015.   Honor Roll Awardees and Honor Society Inductees that are not also receiving departmental awards will be seated as a group in Section 107. 

Persons receiving only this recognition will not cross the stage, but will stand at their seat when directed for recognition as a group.  Your name will be scrolled on the screen and listed in the 2015 Honors Convocation Program Book.   Please listen for direction from the platform advising when it is your turn to stand for recognition.

 I.e.” will all inductees into the Delta Alpha Freshman Honor Society please rise and and be recognized.”  
Stand at your seat as directed by the faculty marshals.  Once the dais has completed your recognition you may be seated.  

NOTE: If you have been notified that you are also receiving an award from your college/department you must pick up your caller card from the awardee courtesy station located in the lobby of the Convocation Center.  Cards will only be available for students that are receiving University-wide and departmental awards.  Please see the instructions below.  

University-wide and Departmental Recognition 

If you have been selected for a University-wide or departmental award and plan to participate in the 2015 Honors Convocation please RSVP by April 10, 2015.  http://www.csu.edu/honorsconvocation/RSVP.htm

Please arrive at the Jones Convocation Center at 5:30 pm on April 16, 2015.   Stop by the courtesy station located at the south end of the lobby to secure your caller card (cards will be in alphabetical order).  You will hand this card to the Dean/ Associate Dean of your College so that they may to read your name and each of the awards that you are receiving.  

After you have been given your card proceed to the lower level to line up with your College for the processional as directed by the faculty marshals.  You will be able to identify the marshals by their gold stoles with the CSU Presidential seal.  When directed by the marshals you will march into the arena and be seated.  As instructed by the marshals and the dais you will approach the stage and hand your card to the Dean/ Assoc. Dean to be read.   

It is critical that you pay close attention to the marshal direction so that the event runs smoothly.   

NOTE: Caller cards will only be available for students that are receiving departmental awards.  Students that are solely receiving recognition for the CSU Honor Rolls or induction in one of our Honor Societies will not have cards printed and will not approach the stage.  

All Honorees - Certificate Pick-up 

Only the ceremonial certificate cover will be given as you cross the stage.  Actual certificates will be distributed after the ceremony ends at the station located in the northeast area on the second floor of the Convocation Center.   If you are receiving recognition for Honor Roll or Honor Society your certificate with the cover will be ready for pickup at the station after the ceremony has ended.  

Your guests may enjoy refreshments in the lobby while you pick up your certificate(s).   If you are unable to attend the event please watch your CSU email for certificate pickup instructions.  

Suggested Attire

Although this event is not as formal as Commencement it is still a very prestigious occasion.  Business attire is strongly recommended.   Also note there will be changes in floor level. Please note the attire recommendations listed below.  Some items are included to ensure your safety:
