We want to make sure that all entering students of extraordinary academic promise or an exceptional high school background with high academic motivations have the chance to participate in the Honors College and Presidential Scholars programs. Students applying to CSU and for all degree-granting majors and professional programs, as well as undeclared majors, are eligible to participate. Accepted applicants to the university are recruited each spring to begin Honors work during their first semester in the fall. Entering freshmen are eligible to join the Honors College if they have one of the following:
- a composite ACT score of 23 or higher, OR
- a cumulative high school G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher, OR
- graduation in the top 10% of the high school class.
Second semester freshmen and first semester sophomores who have earned a 3.25 cumulative GPA at Chicago State University or another accredited institution are also encouraged to apply.
Please note that the Honors College offers an enriched general education curriculum (click on the "Curriculum" link at left for details). Consequently, the College does not admit students who have satisfied most or all of their general education requirements either at CSU or from another institution of higher education. If you have specific questions or concerns, please contact the Honors College staff for more information on eligibility criteria.
