This is a clear testimony to the quality of education that we offer to our students. Our dedicated faculty members provide a nurturing and supportive learning environment for students by encouraging independent thoughts and life-long learning traits. We provide field work and internship oppurtunites in respected local hospitals and clinics.
We are indeed very proud of our extraordinary achievements in producing highly competent ethnic minority health care professionals. Over half of the African American nurses, occupational therapists and health information managers with baccalaureate degree in Illinois are graduates of Chicago State University. Over 90% of our graduates are employed in the Chicago metropolitan area and, they make vital contributions in the delivery of health services in our community.
The health-care arena is constantly undergoing transformation with the dual intention to control cost and provide greater access to health care. Our faculty members will continue to monitor the health care landscape and fine-tune our curricula to ensure its relevance in the health care system. An essential part of our curriculum is tied to the interdisciplinary education philosophy utilizing our innovative service learning approach. Our faculty and staff continues to compete successfully in obtaining research and training grants to supplement the dwindling funding from the state government.
