BoldSteps: The Campaign for CSU The goal of BoldSteps is to raise $10 million in unrestricted and program funds by 2010. This is a historic effort and we are expecting historic results. This comprehensive campaign will provide much-needed support to ensure the continued excellence of the academic programs at Chicago State University, by allowing us to grant more scholarships to deserving and qualified students, to attract and retain outstanding faculty engaged in cutting-edge research, and to upgrade campus resources with state-of-the-art technology and equipment. Additionally, the BoldSteps campaign will allow us to increase our endowment, which will further secure the University’s future and will enable us to build on our commitment to academic excellence, real-world applicability, and our productive engagement with metropolitan Chicago. Your BoldSteps contribution will start working right away. Starting in the fall of 2011, we plan to implement improvements in the following three areas: Scholarships and Fellowships With abundant scholarships and fellowships, the University becomes accessible and attractive to top students, as well as talented individuals without the means to afford higher education. Technology and Facilities Enrichment The BoldSteps campaign will support new and renovated science facilities equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories, classrooms, furnishings, technology, and equipment to support strong academic programs in biology, physics and chemistry; as well as new and renovated computer technology equipped with wireless access to incorporate laptop learning and interactive classrooms. Campus and Community Engagement The BoldSteps campaign will allow the University to offer more small classes, which will allow for more faculty attention and more opportunities for independent scholarship. Additionally, BoldSteps will provide more avenues for international study, and more programs that combine disciplines in innovative ways. In so doing, the University will cultivate those qualities that make our graduates some of the most sought-after in today’s marketplace. This is truly an exciting time for the Chicago State University. We have a rich history behind us, and a bright future before us and we need everyone’s support and involvement in order to make this campaign a success.
