             THE
SUMMER 2012 "P3"
        WEB PAGE

All information on this web page is exclusive to that group of

College of Pharmacy students currently completing their

third year of study in the Doctor of Pharmacy program.

THE LOAN APPLICATION PROCESS

Any "P3" desiring to obtain a loan(s) for the Summer portion (June 7, 2012 through August 24, 2012) of their third year of student enrollment must submit, to the Office of Student Financial Aid, the P3 LOAN REQUEST FOR SUMMER 2012 form. Individual forms, outlining a student's loan eligibility for summer, as well as any remaining eligibility they may have for the Fall 2011 and/or Spring 2012 semesters, will be e-mailed to all P3 students by April 30, 2012.

If you had a loan(s) this past school year, and have already completed the necessary Entrance Counseling (for graduate or professional students) and have completed the appropriate MPN(s) (see IMPORTANT INFORMATION CONCERNNG MPNs below), you should need to take no further action after you have submitted the P3 LOAN REQUEST FOR SUMMER 2012. However, in the event that you did not accept a full loan package for either of the Fall or Spring semesters, you may need to accept on-line the loan(s) for which you are applying for the Summer 2012 semester, after the Request has been processed. You will be notified by e-mail in the event that you need to accept any "Offered" loans and will be directed to CSU X-press to do so.

LOAN ELIGIBILITY

Maximum Federal Direct Stafford eligibility for the 2011-2012 academic year, for P3s, as a result of the expansion of the third year of enrollment from a conventional 9-month academic program to a 12-month academic program, has been increased to $37,176, inclusive of Stafford funds borrowed during the Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 semesters. In other words, if a student borrowed the maximum Stafford ($33,000) during the regular school year he/she will be eligible to borrow additional Unsubsidized Stafford for Summer 2012 of up to $4,167.00.

Should a student require funds in excess of Stafford eligibility, he/she would be eligible for a Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan, or a Private/Alternative Education Loan, (PLUS and Private/Alternative loans subject to credit approval) in an amount up to the Summer 2012 Cost of Attendance (see below), less all other aid, including Stafford, received during Summer 2012.

Example: An Illinois resident received the full $33,000 in Stafford during the regular school year. He/she applies for the $4,167 Stafford for Summer 2012. That student would be eligible for an additional $7,585 in Graduate PLUS.

Loans will be disbursed in one installment (excepting those students who did not borrow loans during the Fall 2012 and/or Spring semesters) and applied to student accounts on May 30, 2012. If you are taking out a loan for the first time this school year for the Sumer semester, your loan will be applied to your student account in two equal installments. The first half will be applied to student accounts on May 31, 2012. The second half will be applied on July 16, 2012.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION CONCERNING MPNs

If you had a Stafford and/or PLUS loan(s) during the Fall 2011-Spring 2012 academic year you had to complete an MPN(s) online at StudentLoans.gov before your loan(s) would fund.  You had the option at that time (and still have the option) of completing a "serial" MPN which provides for disbursements for 10 years, or a "one-year" MPN which provides for disbursement only until the first anniversary of the date you completed such an MPN(s).

If you completed a "one-year" MPN prior to the beginning of the 2011-2012 academic year, your eligibility to have future disbursements made under that MPN(s) may soon be expiring. You are strongly encouraged to access StudentLoans.gov and review your MPN status and complete a new MPN(s), if necessary.
