Moodle Overview

"Online learning" refers to both credit and non-credit courses that allow students to meet academic goals online via a Learning Management System (LMS).  Since fall semester 2010, CSU has used Moodle as its LMS.

Moodle is an open-source e-learning software system that provides students and faculty with a flexible yet powerful application that encourages learning through collaboration.  Moodle is being widely adopted around the world; currently over 216 countries and 38 million people are using it. Moodle offers faculty and instructors flexibility in how they choose to present their courses and engage their students. Many new features are available to faculty and encourage students to engage directly with the content of their courses.

Moodle provides educational opportunities for those who are self-motivated, well-disciplined, and independent learners. The task to use new and emerging technologies to expand beyond the boundaries of the traditional classroom will provide students and instructors with increased equity and access to the highest educational opportunities available.
