Research and Teaching Enrichment Grants
The purpose of the Enrichment Grant is to provide faculty members the financial assistance to enable them to participate in development activities that directly enhance their research and/or teaching endeavors. The Enrichment Grant can be used to support conference attendance, equipment purchases, other resources related to research, teaching and assessment.
Preference will be given to applicants who have not recently received an award. There is a limit to one activity per proposal and a limit of one proposal per person per academic year. The maximum amount allowed per request per proposal is $1,000.00.
What the grants cover: Research and Teaching Enrichment Grants will reimburse expenditures for the following:
- Expenses related to travel to conferences, workshops, trainings, etc. (preference will be given to individuals who are presenting or actively participating in the event)
- Research and teaching materials (books, assessment tools, digital resources)
- Supplies and materials for artistic work (visual and performing arts)
- Laboratory research supplies, instruments, consumables, analytical services
- Equipment not easily obtained from other campus sources, such as computer software and hardware, digital recorders, digital supplies, etc.
- Publication costs such as editing, graphics, transcription, and reproduction
Grant funds will be distributed in the form of a reimbursement. Grantees will have to provide all receipts and necessary documentation to be reimbursed. The CTRE will host a mandatory workshop for grant recipients so that these processes and procedures are clear.
Eligibility: Only tenured and tenure-track faculty are eligible to apply. Grant applications will be reviewed by a committee. For highly specialized applications, individuals with expertise in the relevant field(s) may be invited to serve on the review committee. The committee will pass its recommendations on the the Provost and President for their final approval.
The Research and Teaching Enrichment Grant Review Committee assess grant applications based on the following criteria:
- The scholarly merit of the proposed activity
- The value of the proposed activity for the scholarly and professional development of the faculty member
- The value of the proposed activity to the university, in terms of tis academic visibility and credibility
- The quality and thoroughness of the proposal
- Whether the individual has recently received an Enrichment Grant
- Whether the individual submitted the required final report if awarded an Enrichment Grant in the past
Requirements: All applicants are required to complete an application cover page, and create a document that addresses the two areas defined on the application: 1) description of request and 2) itemized budget.
All applications must receive the signed approval of the applicant's respective chairperson on the application cover page before submission to the CTRE.
All grant recipients are required to submit a follow-up report detailing the activity performed and the impact on the university community (such as documented changes in student learning and the curricula). This report is due within 30 days of the completion of the activity. In addition, recipients are expected to share with the campus community how his/her research and/or teaching has been enhanced by the use of these funds through a CTRE sponsored event.
In addition, recipients must attend an instructional workshop on how to complete all of the necessary paperwork for the disbursement of funds. The date of this workshop will be announced after the grants are awarded. Failure to attend this workshop may result in the reversal of the award.
Application and Deadline: The deadline for Enrichment Grant applications is 4:00pm January 14th. Application packets must include: an application cover page signed by the applicant and their respective chair, and a proposal that details the request and itemized budget.
Applications should be delivered to the CTRE in the Library, Room 318 or they can be sent via email in PDF format to ctre@csu.edu.
Late applications will not be considered.
